The Department of Transfusion Medicine in the Clinical Center, National Institutes of Health is recruiting a physician faculty member to oversee the Infectious Disease Section, provide medical support for Clinical Center patients and perform subspecialty consultation related to infection transmission through blood, blood components, and cellular therapies. The successful candidate will oversee a section of 14 staff including a CLIA-approved testing laboratory. Additional functions include research related to transfusion-transmitted infections, and teaching in an ACGME-accredited training fellowship in Transfusion Medicine. The Department of Transfusion Medicine is a full-service collector and provider of blood, blood components and cellular therapies. The position requires detailed knowledge of molecular, genetic testing for transfusion-transmitted agents. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in Blood Banking / Transfusion Medicine, Hematology, Infectious Disease, appropriate subspecialty certification(s) must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and must possess an active, current, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
