On Saturday November 6, 2021, Congress passed the long-awaited Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. ABC, AABB, and ARC have been working together with Congress to ensure the bipartisan, non-controversial provision to allow blood transportation to use HOV lanes was included in this bill.
The bill states that “The public authority may allow blood transport vehicles that are transporting blood between a collection point and a hospital or storage center to use the HOV facility if the public authority establishes requirements for clearly identifying such vehicles.”
President Biden has indicated he will sign the bill as soon as the signing ceremony can be scheduled.
