America’s Blood Centers (ABC) is committed to cultivating meaningful programs that support blood center leadership in the disciplines of blood banking and transfusion medicine. Through the ABC Medical and Scientific Leaders Program, ABC provides meaningful points of interaction among early and mid-career leaders that preserve the history of medical and scientific excellence in our community while highlighting the next generation of innovative work underway.

ABC is currently accepting nominations, until September 30, 2026 for the 2027 ABC Medical & Scientific Achievement Award.

Medical & Scientific Emerging Leader Award

Recognizing outstanding early to mid-career medical and scientific professionals (within 20 years of completing training) who demonstrate leadership, innovation, and a commitment to advancing blood banking and transfusion medicine.

Award recipient receives:
  • Recognition as an emerging leader in the field
  • Opportunity to deliver a featured 1-hour lecture at the 2027 ABC Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA
  • Complimentary meeting registration and travel support

Bridging the Knowledge Gap as a New Generation Steps Forward

ABC is actively collaborating with the Scientific, Medical, and Technical (SMT) Committee to develop pathways that highlight and promote the next generation of national medical and scientific leaders.  A range of programs will cultivate the proficiencies needed to excel in today’s complex environment and highlight new and innovative work.
