Kate Fry, MBA, CAE
Chief Executive Officer
Kate was named chief executive officer of America's Blood Centers (ABC) in April 2018 after joining ABC in 2016 as Chief Administrative Officer. A recognized leader in healthcare association management and advocacy, Kate leads ABC's strategy development and advocacy work before federal legislators, regulators, and strategic partners. In previous positions at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Kate directed multi-faceted national advocacy campaigns to achieve significant legislative and regulatory victories and managed nationwide grassroots programs to execute on targeted advocacy goals to key members of Congress and regulatory agencies. Kate brings significant expertise in representing the views of associations before members of Congress and congressional staff.
She graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. In 2013, Kate was the recipient of the prestigious Public Affairs Council "Volunteer of the Year" award. The Public Affairs Council is made up of nearly 700 organizations, including Fortune 500 corporations, associations and consulting firms, all at the forefront of public affairs profession. The member community includes about 8,000 professionals in the field, ranging from public policy analysts to senior vice presidents of international affairs.

Jed Gorlin, MD, MBA
Chief Medical Officer
Jed Gorlin, MD, MBA, is chief medical officer of America’s Blood Centers and is the Vice President of Medical and Quality Affairs for New York Blood Center Enterprises, serving the NYBCe divisions of Memorial Blood Center, Nebraska Community Blood Bank and Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City. He is currently the co-director of Transfusion Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center, a level one trauma hospital in Minneapolis, and Children’s Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. In addition, he is the medical director of the New York Blood Center Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Program.
His education includes a BS-Stanford, MD Yale, and MBA from U of MN Carlson School of Business. He trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Boston Children’s hospital and Dana/Farber Cancer Institute.
Dr. Gorlin served on the boards of AABB and the National Blood Foundation. He is Associate Clinical Professor of laboratory medicine at University of Minnesota. He is a senior editor of Transfusion Medicine and Apheresis Science. He has authored over 60 journal articles and a dozen chapters in various blood banking texts. He lectures to the medical laboratory scientist students at the University of Minnesota and Kansas University Medical Center.
He is/was a consultant to AABB, CDC and NIH for blood collection capacity building projects in Rwanda, Tanzania and Central Asia including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and a consultant to WHO for Patient Blood Management. He was the AABB liaison to ACOG, AWHONN and CMQCC for obstetric hemorrhage and is chair of AABB TTD committee. He received the John Elliott Memorial Award (2019) and Presidents award (2022) from the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). He is a panel member of Advisory committee for blood and tissue safety and availability (ACBTSA), that reports to the federal department of Health and Human Safety (HHS).
